Baotou Dongbao Bio-tech Co., Ltd.

Baotou Dongbao Bio-Tech was established in 1997, taking over from the Baotou Fine Gelatin Factory that had operated since the 1960s. It develops, produces and sells gelatin, collagen and their derivatives, and states that it holds the largest production capacity in China for both. It is the only listed company in the Chinese gelatin and collagen industry, quoted under stock code 300239.

Annual capacity is 13,500 tonnes of gelatin and 4,300 tonnes of collagen peptide, with finished nutritional supplements as a downstream extension. Manufacturing is split across three sites: the headquarters plant, an eco-park gelatin plant and an eco-park collagen peptide plant. Factory area totals 200,000 square metres with 150,000 square metres of building. Total share capital is 590 million yuan and total assets close to 1.7 billion yuan.

The company supplies both food and pharmaceutical customers and organises its offer around traceability and continuity of supply rather than around a single grade. Type I collagen is among the material it produces at the factory. The company's published expansion plan sets targets in five areas: production technology, product quality, plant scale, efficiency and working environment.

Dongbao holds a number of granted invention patents and has won the China Good Technology award as well as regional scientific and technological achievement awards and municipal science and technology progress awards; it has also been named a National Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprise. It is at No. 46 Huanghe Road in the Rare Earth High-Tech Zone, Baotou, Inner Mongolia.
