Chengde Jingtian Food Science&technology Co., Ltd.

Chengde Jingtian Food Science and Technology Co., Ltd. was set up in February 2007 with registered capital of 3 million yuan. It was funded jointly by Chengde Shuntian Food Co., Ltd., the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries, and an individual shareholder. The plant is at Dadongyao village, Liugou town, Chengde County, Chengde, Hebei Province, and the company is registered as a technology-based enterprise.

Its main product is stachyose, a naturally occurring tetrasaccharide found in legumes and classified as a non-reducing functional oligosaccharide of the raffinose family. The company draws on process development work from the fermentation industries research institute and produces stachyose at commercial batch scale.

Stachyose is sold as a prebiotic on the basis that it promotes bifidobacteria growth. It has low sweetness, dissolves readily in water, is heat stable and is hygroscopic, which allows it to be added to foods without altering their character. End markets include food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and animal feed. The company is listed as a member of the China Food Additives and Ingredients Association.
