Dongxiao Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2004 and is headquartered at Xinxing Town, Zhucheng City, Shandong province, on a site it calls the Dongxiao Technology Park. Total investment is given as 3 billion yuan, the grounds cover more than 2,000 mu and the workforce exceeds 4,100. The plant processes 1.6 million tonnes of corn a year.

The business is built on intensive corn processing rather than a single product. Its stated core technologies are synthetic biology, precision fermentation and microencapsulation, supported by industrial strain development, instrumented fermentation and application development. Outputs described on the site include soluble dietary fibre, erythritol and microencapsulated protein and creamer powders made by emulsifying, shearing, homogenising and spray drying glucose syrup, milk powder and vegetable oil.

Certification covers ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000 and HACCP. The company is an AEO Advanced Certified Enterprise with China Customs and has been named a National Manufacturing Single Champion, a National Green Factory and a national demonstration enterprise for green product design, as well as a Shandong manufacturing single champion.
