Fujian Global Ocean Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2010 as a Sino-foreign joint venture working on algal hydrocolloids, and trades on China's over-the-counter market under stock code 838114. Registered capital is 68.88 million yuan and the company employs more than 150 people.

Its factory stands at No. 17 Jindu Avenue in the Jindu Ocean Biology and Medicine High-tech Industrial Park, Zhao'an County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian province, covering 88 acres and facing the sea. Production takes top-grade marine algae through an improved extraction process to make agar-agar and kappa-carrageenan, which are used in soft jelly, jelly gum, meat binding systems, granulated beverage stabilisers and ice cream stabilisers. The company is a Fujian research base of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and runs its own research institute.

A wholly owned subsidiary, Fujian Health-Care Food Co., Ltd., was established on 16 January 2017 with registered capital of 10 million yuan and operates a 1,288 square metre plant. It holds three core technologies of its own and works with Ocean University of China and the Quanzhou green low-carbon research body. Group certification covers ISO 9001, ISO 22000, Kosher and Halal, and the products meet European Union requirements and sell into Europe, the Americas, Japan, South Korea and South Asia.
