Henan Kaifeng Pingmei Shenma Xinghua Fine Chemical Co., Ltd.

Kaifeng Xinghua Fine Chemical Ltd., part of the Pingmei Shenma group, makes saccharin at a site on South Road in Kaifeng, Henan. The plant occupies 80,000 square metres and produces 15,000 tonnes a year.

Sodium saccharin under the Xinghua name is the main product, and the range also covers anhydrous sodium saccharin, insoluble saccharin and high-purity saccharin. Production uses the phthalic anhydride route. The company states that its material meets the Chinese national standard for food additives together with the British Pharmacopoeia editions of 1998, 2000, 2007 and 2011, the United States Pharmacopeia 24, 30, 32 and 34, the European Pharmacopoeia 97 and 6.0, and the Food Chemicals Codex IV, V and VI. The product is described as a white rhombic crystal, sweet and free of nutritive value, and is sold into food, drinks, cosmetics, animal feed and electroplating.

The factory was certified to ISO 9002 in 1995 and was named an advanced export enterprise in 1998. Saccharin has been exported to more than thirty countries and regions in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Building outward from saccharin, the company has since widened its range to other sweeteners and related fine chemicals.
