Xiamen Huison Biotech Co., Ltd. was established in 2001 and operates from Tong'an District in Xiamen, Fujian Province, at 1337 Tongji Middle Road. It is registered as a national high-tech enterprise and works in directed microbial fermentation, with its output concentrated on omega-3 DHA derived from marine microalgae rather than from fish oil.

The company ferments a proprietary Schizochytrium strain, designated HS01, and sells the biomass as Schizochytrium powder and the extracted lipid as DHA algal oil. The powder is supplied for dairy applications, where the whole-cell format is used in place of encapsulated oil. Huison holds patents covering its strain and fermentation process in China, the United States, Japan and Australia, and reports 25 granted patents in total.

Its DHA algal oil carries EU organic and United States organic certification, EU novel food authorisation, United States FDA GRAS notification, kosher and halal certification, and SGS non-GMO identity preservation. The company describes itself as the first Chinese producer to export DHA algal oil. Customers are in the food, infant and adult nutrition, and dairy sectors.
