Inner Mongolia Mengniu Dairy (Group) Co., Ltd. (内蒙古蒙牛乳业（集团）股份有限公司) was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, with its main production base at Shengle in Horinger County. It is one of the two largest dairy processors in China, listed in Hong Kong, and COFCO holds a controlling interest.

The group's core output is liquid milk, ice cream and milk powder for consumers. Its ingredients business sits alongside that, deep-processing raw milk into dairy protein fractions and functional milk powder ingredients sold to other food, nutrition and health product manufacturers. Mengniu markets this line under the Milk Cube (奶立方) name, covering more than thirty separate items across four application areas.

The stated purpose of the ingredients work is to substitute domestic material for imported dairy protein raw materials, using processing systems that separate and recombine milk components rather than buying finished protein concentrates.
