Jiangsu Junqi Biotechnology makes plant protein peptides, with soy peptide as the main line, together with plant polysaccharides and plant oils. It works by enzymatic hydrolysis in water rather than solvent extraction, a route that takes oil, protein and peptide out of the same bean in one process.

The company started in 2011 at Nantong, Jiangsu, and has put more than 300 million yuan into its research and production platform. It works closely with Jiangnan University, sitting on the board of the university's food science school and hosting an industry research base, a functional food development base and a provincial graduate workstation, and it employs more than 20 people at masters level or above. Its water-based enzymatic route to plant peptides took a second prize for technological invention from the Ministry of Education in 2020.
