Jilin Huahaohuafeng Biotechnology makes starch and starch products, with modified starch for food use as the main line. Modified starches of this type are treated so that they hold viscosity under heat and acid, survive freezing and thawing and carry texture in sauces, meat products and baked goods. The company covers development, production and sales and is licensed for both starch products and food additives.

It was set up in 2021 and works from a 102,000 square metre site on Jiudong Road in the Jilin Economic and Technological Development Zone, in the maize growing northeast of the country. The plant is rated at about 150,000 tonnes a year.
