Linquan Spring River Nano Plant New Material makes vegetable carbon black, the food colour known in Europe as E153, carbonising green bamboo as the raw material. Output runs to more than 400 tonnes a year, packed from 100 gram jars up to 20 kilogram fibre drums, and the company also mills bamboo charcoal powder and binchotan charcoal powder.

The plant is in the economic development zone of Linquan County, Fuyang, in northwestern Anhui, and holds a Chinese food additive production licence. The company grinds to a narrow particle size distribution, which is what gives an even black in frozen desserts, confectionery, tapioca pearls, cakes, biscuits and collagen casings, and it works to the current national standard GB 1886.384 for vegetable carbon black. It has exported to the European Union for eighteen consecutive years.
