Moon (Guangzhou) Biotech Co., Ltd.

MoonBio was first registered in Beijing in 2015. Its Guangzhou headquarters, Moon (Guangzhou) Biotech Co., Ltd., opened in 2017 alongside a pilot production base, and Guangzhou has been the operating centre since.

The company commercialises microbial resources. It isolates, preserves and identifies bacterial strains, and its culture collection now holds more than 360,000 functional strains. From that collection it screens for bioactive organisms and metabolites, working in three areas: microbial pharmaceuticals, agricultural biologicals and microbial protein. For food and supplement customers this yields probiotic and postbiotic materials. The technology platforms listed on the site cover culturomics and strain services, multi-omics analysis, biosynthesis services and a biomanufacturing platform.

MoonBio is recognised as a National High-Tech Enterprise. Its core team is drawn from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and universities in China and abroad, including Tsinghua, Fudan, Xiamen, Jinan and Jiangnan universities, the University of Wurzburg and Griffith University. The company has raised successive venture rounds, including a 200 million yuan Series C in 2021 and a 300 million yuan C+ round in 2024, and holds a first prize in the Ministry of Education science and technology progress awards for 2020.
