Ningbo Yipin Bio-technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2005 and manufactures inorganic mineral colourants and food additives for pharmaceutical, food, tobacco and cosmetic use. Its factory is in the Shangqiao technology industrial park in Fenghua District, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, with a second office in Jiading District, Shanghai.

The company holds both a drug manufacturing licence and a food production licence. Its pharmaceutical excipient range covers titanium dioxide and the full iron oxide series in black, red, brown, yellow and purple. Products are used in film coating suspensions, sugar coatings and gelatin capsules, in confectionery coatings, preserved fruit, chewing gum and solid drinks, and in pressed powders, sunscreens, eye shadow, lipstick, toothpaste and body wash. Specifications follow the current Chinese Pharmacopoeia and US FDA requirements.

Production runs under pharmaceutical GMP management with ISO 22000 food safety certification, and is subject to inspection by the Chinese drug regulator. The company obtained CQC food safety system certification in 2013 and ISO 9001:2015 in 2019. It holds one invention patent, nine utility model patents and two design patents, has completed REACH registration for iron oxide red, yellow and black and titanium dioxide, and holds Kosher and Halal certificates. It was recognised as a Ningbo high-tech enterprise in 2018 and as a Ningbo enterprise engineering technology centre in 2020, and runs joint laboratories with the Zhejiang University School of Pharmacy and the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
