Rizhao Zhongsheng Marine Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (日照众生海洋生物科技有限公司) dates its founding to 2009 and is a subsidiary of the Shandong Weikang biological group. Its site is northwest of Yousuo village, north of Haichang Road, in Taoluo town, Donggang district, Rizhao, Shandong province. Corporate records show the Rizhao Zhongsheng name in use from 2012 until April 2024, when the registration was renamed Shandong Zhongsheng Marine Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

The company works on a single raw material, chitin, and its derivatives. Its main output is chitosan oligosaccharide, produced by enzymatic degradation of chitosan to a degree of polymerisation of roughly 2 to 20 and a molecular weight at or below 3,200 daltons, which makes the product water soluble. Chitosan is also supplied. Material is sold into food, health food, cosmetic and medical uses, and the group markets finished chitosan oligosaccharide products through its own pharmaceutical arm.
