Shandong Haiaos Biotechnology makes edible collagen casings and nothing else. The company was established in 2013 and works from 201 Zhangbei Road in Huantai County, Zibo, Shandong. It gives an annual capacity of 2.35 billion metres.

The range is organised by the sausage process each casing has to survive. Separate grades are supplied for cooked, boiled, steamed, fried, dried, smoked and fresh sausage and for pepperoni, along with soft-texture and crispy variants and a coloured casing for smoked products. Regional formats include casings for Taiwanese, Western, hotdog and hotpot sausages. Alongside supply the company offers technical consultation and application development to processors.

Its own account dates the collagen casing project to 2015, when it began supplying Shuanghui, the largest meat processor in China. Recognitions from the Shandong authorities followed in 2017, including gazelle enterprise and provincial leading enterprise status, and capacity and product range were expanded from 2019. Haiaos runs research work with Jiangnan University on collagen fibre and maintains its own laboratory and product development team.
