Shandong Laiyu Chemical was established in 1984 and manufactures magnesium salts at Zhu You on Chenggang Road in Laizhou, part of Yantai in Shandong. Registered capital is CNY 50 million and the company employs more than 300 people.

Magnesium sulphate is the core product, made in food and feed additive grades under separate Chinese production licences and also supplied as a liquid blended to customer requirements. The wider range covers magnesium acetate, carbonate, hydroxide and chloride, sodium sulphite and sodium metabisulphite, magnesium and calcium-magnesium and potassium-magnesium and silicon-calcium-magnesium fertilisers and soil conditioners, allyl compounds as organic intermediates, and dust suppressants and de-icing agents.

The company treats waste gas, effluent and solid waste on site, converting solid residues into fertiliser and recycling process water, and it set up Shandong Laimei Environmental Technology in Binzhou, where it developed equipment for turning waste into fertiliser. Research is carried out with the Beijing Institute of Technology, Soochow University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology and the materials research institute of Beihang University. Exports reach more than 110 countries and regions. Laiyu holds EU REACH registration, FAMI-QS, ISO22000, kosher, halal, SEDEX, HACCP and GMP+ accreditation, and obtained advanced AEO customs status in 2020.
