Wuhan Stars Modern Bio-engineering Co., Ltd., also written Wuhan Xingchen, is a national high-tech enterprise jointly invested by Wuhan Xingyu Food Science and Technology Co., Ltd., the Wuhan Institute of Virology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Jiangsu Microbial Research Co., Ltd. It is at Block 3#A, No. 76 Shendun Fifth Road, in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone at Wuhan, Hubei.

Its main product is beta carotene made by microbial fermentation from natural raw materials rather than chemical synthesis. Because it is a fermentation metabolite, the crystal also carries small amounts of gamma carotene, zeaxanthin and other carotenoids. The company also supplies lutein.

ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 certification were obtained in February 2006 and Halal certification in June 2006, renewed in 2017. The company took part in drafting GB 28310-2012, the national food safety standard for beta carotene made by fermentation, and two 2016 national standards for selenium-enriched yeast and selenium-enriched edible fungus powder. Awards on the record include second prize for scientific and technological progress from Wuhan municipality in 2007, third prize from Hubei province the same year, first prize from Hubei in 2013 and second prize in 2020. The company was recertified as a national high-tech enterprise in 2015, passed intellectual property management system certification in 2021, was named a Hubei specialised little giant in 2022, and its beta carotene was listed as a 2022 Hubei manufacturing single champion product.
