Zhejiang Aegis Biotech Co., Ltd., which trades as Aegis Group, develops, manufactures and sells organic feed additives, with microbial lysozyme as its principal product. The company presents microbial lysozyme as a replacement for in-feed antibiotics, aimed at reducing drug use and resistance in livestock production. Product lines are sold under the BIOZYME-IS, BIOZYME-L, BIOZYME-S and BIOYEST names, with grades for swine, poultry, ruminants and aquaculture as well as food, pharmaceutical and household chemical use.

Lysozyme research began in 2000 and won a third prize in the Hangzhou science and technology awards. A first production base was established at Deqing in 2004 to make lysozyme premix, and pilot scale work in 2005 drew support from the Ministry of Science and Technology innovation fund. A second base opened at Pujiang in 2009 for lysozyme and glutathione. The company was granted a high technology industrialisation demonstration project by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2011.

Aegis drafted the industry standard for lysozyme in 2012 and contributed to the national food safety standard for the food additive in 2013. A further project started in 2015 covering enzymes, antimicrobial peptides and probiotics.
