Zhejiang Tech-Way Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

Zhejiang Tech-Way Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2002 and makes gellan gum, a microbial exopolysaccharide, in both low acyl and high acyl forms. It was the first company in China to take the fermentation route to industrial scale for this product, and holds patents covering fermentation, extraction and downstream application, 28 in total. The gum is sold into food, pharmaceutical applications including soft and hard capsules, cosmetics and industrial chemicals.

The company runs a production research institute and a separate applications research and development centre. It trades on the New Third Board under the code 871471, and has been recognised as a national high technology enterprise, a Zhejiang specialised and innovative small and medium enterprise, a Zhejiang hidden champion and the holder of a Shaoxing doctoral innovation station.

Certification covers ISO 9001:2015, FSSC 22000, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, together with kosher and halal approval, and the company has completed pharmaceutical excipient registration in China under number F20240000408.
