Zhejiang Xinmei Biotechnology Co., Ltd., which trades as SEMIX, makes collagen peptide and gelatin at No. 18 Hangping Road in Haining, Zhejiang. The company was founded in 2019, though the plant behind it dates from 2008 and had reached 2,000 tonnes a year of capacity by 2012. A target of 4,000 tonnes a year was set in 2022.

The range covers collagen peptide and hydrolysed collagen, instant bovine collagen peptide, gelatin, hydrolysed gelatin and gelatin hydrolysate, aimed at drinks, bakery, desserts and energy bars as well as joint, skin, hair and nail supplements.

Production runs under central process control from raw material intake to finished output. The company passed FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, kosher and SQF certification in 2021, with FSSC 22000 and SQF audited by SGS. It works with upstream international raw material suppliers to keep traceability across the whole supply chain.
