Collagen Peptide
Collagen Peptide is a low-molecular-weight protein ingredient produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of native collagen extracted from bovine hide, porcine skin, fish, or poultry sources. Typical average molecular weight falls between 2 and 5 kDa, which gives the powder cold-water solubility and a near-neutral sensory profile.
The peptide pool retains the characteristic Gly-X-Y amino-acid sequence of parent collagen, with high glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline content. These features distinguish it from generic protein hydrolysates and underpin its positioning in beauty-from-within, joint, and active-nutrition formats.
We source bulk Collagen Peptide from top China manufacturers for our partners, working with several of them. The manufacturers are mostly in Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong. For this ingredient the minimum order is 500 kg and a 20-foot container takes 17 MT, and a smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.
Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades
Collagen Peptide is graded primarily by average molecular weight (MW) and by source animal.
Ultra-low MW grades in the 1 to 2 kDa range are positioned for premium beauty drinks and shots where rapid dispersion and clarity are required. Standard 2 to 5 kDa grades cover the bulk of capsule, sachet, and powdered-drink applications.
Higher MW grades above 5 kDa are produced for bars, baked snacks, and gummies where some viscosity is tolerated and cost per kilogram matters more than instant solubility.
Each MW tier runs across bovine, porcine, fish, and chicken sources, with kosher and halal certifications restricted to fish and bovine streams handled in segregated lines.
Applications
- Ready-to-drink beauty beverages and collagen shots positioned around skin elasticity and hydration
- Powdered drink mixes, stick packs, and on-the-go sachets for daily protein top-up
- Capsules, tablets, and chewable supplements blended with vitamin C, biotin, or hyaluronic acid
- Protein bars, cookies, and baked snacks where additional protein density is desired
- Sports-nutrition recovery blends combined with whey, casein, or plant proteins
- Functional gummies and pastilles for joint, hair, and nail positioning
- Clinical and medical nutrition products for post-surgery and elderly protein support
- Dairy and dairy-alternative yogurts, kefirs, and creamers for protein fortification
- Soups, broths, and savory powders where peptide flavour contribution is acceptable
- Pet supplements for joint mobility in dogs and cats
- Topical cosmetic formulations including serums, sheet masks, and shampoos

How We Help Source Collagen Peptide
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Collagen Peptide out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Collagen Peptide together with other ingredients such as Soy Protein Isolate, Fish Collagen Peptide and Gelatin into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Collagen Peptide is regulated as a food or food ingredient in most jurisdictions rather than as a food additive, so no E number applies.
In the United States it is generally recognized as safe when produced under good manufacturing practice from edible animal tissues. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration treats it as a conventional protein source and as a permitted dietary supplement ingredient.
In the European Union it is covered by general food law and by EC 853/2004 hygiene rules for collagen of animal origin. Bovine sourcing must comply with BSE control requirements on raw-material category and country of origin.
Halal and kosher certifications exist for fish-derived material and for bovine material from approved slaughter. Pharmacopoeial monographs for hydrolysed collagen exist in the European Pharmacopoeia and several national pharmacopoeias.
Manufacturing Process
Industrial production starts with cleaned, defatted raw material such as bovine split hide, porcine skin, fish skin, or chicken cartilage. The material is washed, demineralized, and subjected to controlled alkaline or acid pretreatment to swell the collagen fibres.
The swollen tissue is then heated in clean water to release gelatin, which is the partially denatured form of collagen. Enzymatic hydrolysis with food-grade proteases, typically alkaline or neutral bacterial enzymes, cleaves the gelatin chains down to the target molecular-weight window.
The peptide solution is filtered, decolorised with activated carbon, deionized through ion-exchange resins, concentrated under vacuum, and spray-dried into a free-flowing white to pale-yellow powder.
Process control points include enzyme dose, hydrolysis time, temperature, and final ultrafiltration cut-off. These variables determine the molecular-weight distribution and ash content of the finished peptide.
