Zhenpai Hydrocolloids Co., Ltd.

Zhenpai was founded in 1985 and makes agar and carrageenan. The registered manufacturing entity is Zhenpai (Fujian) Marine Biotechnology Co., Ltd., while the group head office is at Building 6, Zhongtai Plaza, Songjiang District, Shanghai. Three production bases operate under the group, Zhenpai Fujian, Fujian Jingyi and Zhenpai (Asia Pacific) Hydrocolloids in Indonesia, alongside a colloid application research centre in Shanghai.

Agar production began in 1985, making the company one of the first in China to produce it industrially. It is extracted from red seaweeds including Gelidium, Gracilaria and Eucheuma, and used as a gelling agent, thickener, stabiliser, suspending agent and humectant in jams, yoghurt and gummies. Carrageenan is supplied in refined and semi-refined kappa and iota grades, and in compounded systems developed for tumbled, chopped and injected meat products, seafood, plant based gummies, jellies and puddings. A fast dissolving semi-refined carrageenan is offered for low temperature use.

Raw seaweed is bought from Indonesian and Philippine waters. The company holds FSSC 22000:2018, ISO 22000, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001:2015 certification along with halal and kosher approval, and exhibits at Fi Europe, Fi Asia, Hi and Fi Asia-China and FIC.
