Guangdong Xinmei Biotechnology makes carrageenan and agar, including the refined kappa carrageenan listed here, and blends them with other hydrocolloids into compound stabilisers. Its material goes into food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and industrial uses.

The company started in 2016 in the ASEAN industrial park of the Fenyong high technology zone at Zhanjiang in Guangdong, and reports capacity of 1,000 to 1,200 tonnes of carrageenan and agar a year. It buys raw seaweed through its own purchasing bases in Indonesia and the Philippines, and holds ISO 22000:2018 and GB/T 19001-2016 certification.
