Henan Kangyuan Flavour Factory Co., Ltd. was founded in 1997 and makes food flavourings, food additives and fine chemicals on the east section of Renmin Road in Weishi County, Henan, on the flats of the Jialu river. Registered capital is RMB 8.5 million. The site covers 14,300 square metres with 13,600 square metres of buildings, and the company employs 186 people, 48 of them technicians holding intermediate or higher titles. Fixed assets are given as RMB 28.1 million and total assets as RMB 132 million.

The additive list is dominated by esters and short-chain acids used in Chinese liquor and other flavour work: ethyl caproate, ethyl lactate, ethyl propionate, ethyl isobutyrate, ethyl butyrate, ethyl acetate, ethyl heptanoate, ethyl octanoate, isoamyl acetate, propyl acetate, allyl hexanoate and allyl heptanoate, together with phenylethanol, 2,3-butanedione, acetal and glycerol. The acid range covers caproic, butyric, propionic and lactic acids, and glacial acetic acid made by low-pressure carbonylation. Comprehensive capacity for food flavourings and compound food additives, including compound alcohol flavour enhancers, is given as 30,000 tonnes a year.

The finished flavour range is grouped into liquor flavours, wine flavours, food flavours, natural flavours and compound flavours. The company holds a food production licence, and its patents cover glacial acetic acid purification, dosing and metering equipment for additives, ethyl acetate recovery and additive waste-gas treatment.
