Inner Mongolia Constan Biotech makes pectin. Its lines cover citrus pectin and apple pectin from fruit peel and sunflower pectin extracted from sunflower heads, a low-methoxyl gelling agent that gives formulators an option outside the citrus supply chain, which matters when citrus peel prices move.

The company started in June 2014 in the national economic and technological development zone at Bayannur, Inner Mongolia, the centre of Chinese sunflower growing, which puts its unusual raw material on the doorstep. It commissioned a first 1,000 tonne pectin line in 2018, the opening stage of a plant designed for 4,500 tonnes a year across three phases, and holds registered capital of 62 million yuan.
