Ningbo Wanglong Technology makes acetic acid derivatives, split across four end uses: food additives, pharmaceutical intermediates, pesticide intermediates and dyeing intermediates. The food side is sorbic acid, potassium sorbate and vanillin. The intermediates side is acetic anhydride, diketene, methyl acetoacetate and ethyl acetoacetate, the building blocks that also feed its own sorbate and vanillin routes.

The company was founded in 1992 in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and holds national high-tech enterprise status. It gives annual capacity as 50,000 tonnes of sorbic acid and potassium sorbate, 5,000 tonnes of vanillin, 160,000 tonnes of acetic anhydride, 70,000 tonnes of diketene, and 50,000 tonnes each of methyl and ethyl acetoacetate. That puts most of its tonnage in the chemical intermediates rather than in the preservative line it is best known for in the food trade.
