Qingdao Langyatai Group

Qingdao Langyatai Group Co., Ltd. was established in 1958 and is a large state-owned group in Qingdao, Shandong Province. It grew out of the baijiu business and has built its later diversification on microbial fermentation technology, which the group summarises as strains and enzymes.

Three main businesses now run in parallel: alcoholic drinks, marine biotechnology and synthetic biomanufacturing. In recent years the group has commissioned marine microalgae DHA and isomaltulose operations, and its health ingredient range extends to chlorella, collagen peptides and functional sugars, alongside marine ecological baijiu, fruit wine and vinegar, craft beer, cosmetics and disinfection products.

Research platforms include a national enterprise technology centre, a national and local joint engineering research centre, a China light industry key laboratory for novel organic acid fermentation, national engineering research centres for itaconic acid and for gluconic acid, an academician and expert workstation and a postdoctoral research workstation. The group has carried out two national 863 projects and hosts a pilot base of the East China University of Science and Technology national university science park as well as a marine microalgae innovation base. It has been named among the first national manufacturing single champion demonstration enterprises, a national technology innovation demonstration enterprise and a national intellectual property demonstration enterprise, and holds China Time-honored Brand status and a China Industrial Award citation.
