Qinhuangdao Sanli Food Co., Ltd.

Qinhuangdao Sanli Food Co., Ltd. (秦皇岛市三力食品有限责任公司) produces potato starch, sweet potato starch and vermicelli at a plant north of Suzhuang Village, Longjiadian Town, in Changli County, Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province.

In 2018 the company received environmental approval from the Changli County environmental protection bureau for a potato starch expansion and reconstruction project. The work rebuilt 3,100 square metres of existing production workshop, upgraded a 3,000 square metre wastewater treatment station, converted 3,000 square metres of potato storage yard and added 52 items of equipment. It added one potato starch production line with annual output of 5,000 tonnes. Total project investment was 20.58 million yuan, of which 3.35 million yuan, or 16.3 percent, went to environmental controls.

The same approval records that the site runs a separate vermicelli production line, served by a 4 tonne per hour natural gas steam boiler. The project replaced the plant's coal-fired boiler with an 8 tonne per hour gas boiler. Process water passes through an on-site treatment plant rated at 600 cubic metres a day using coagulation and sedimentation, a UASB anaerobic reactor and an A2/O stage, and must meet the indirect discharge limits of the Chinese starch industry water pollutant standard GB 25461-2010 before entering the municipal works. Starch drying and packing air is scrubbed through a counterflow atomiser.
