Tianjin Changjie Chemical makes saccharin and sodium saccharin and works on nothing else. Sodium saccharin, the soluble salt, is the form used in soft drinks, table-top sweeteners, pickles and preserved foods, and it also goes into electroplating baths and other industrial applications.

The plant occupies 40,000 square metres in Tianjin, of which about 8,000 square metres is planted ground, and annual output of sodium saccharin runs to 8,000 tonnes. The company exports to more than 30 countries and territories across Europe and Asia.
