Yunnan Special Favor Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (云南夜草生物科技有限公司) is based on Longxiang Road in the Jiulong industrial park of the Yuxi high-tech zone, Yunnan Province. It was set up with investment from Yunnan Maoduoli Group, a food company that carries national designation as a key enterprise in agricultural industrialisation and that operates cultivated tamarind plantations in the province.

The company works on Yunnan forest and fruit crops, covering raw material growing, product development, production and sales. Its ingredient output centres on tamarind seed gum, a polysaccharide thickener extracted from tamarind kernel, alongside tamarind seasoning, concentrated fruit juice and pulp, compound stabiliser blends for ice cream, and probiotic powders. Maoduoli group brands include Maoduoli, Yecao, Tianxin and Huachilun, and the group's best known consumer product is a tamarind fruit cake.

The company reports expert workstations run jointly with the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Tropical Plant Research Institute of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
