ATK Biotech was founded in Nanjing, Jiangsu in 2007 and was among the earliest Chinese companies to produce polyunsaturated fatty acids by biotechnology. Its original products were the infant formula lipids arachidonic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, and it has since extended into OPO structured fat, functional whey protein, probiotics and allulose, positioning itself as a functional raw material manufacturer rather than a single-product oil producer.

The dairy protein line covers alpha-lactalbumin, beta-lactoglobulin, milk fat globule membrane and glycomacropeptide, which together with OPO and the algal and fungal oils gives the company most of the specialist fractions used in infant and follow-on formula. Products also go into wider food and feed uses, and the company describes its customer base as spanning all ages from infants to the elderly.

Manufacturing is at 109 Husong Road in the Shitan Industrial Park, Quanjiao County, Chuzhou, Anhui, where the company is registered as Anhui Tiankai Biotechnology. Its site does not publish capacity figures, headcount or certification detail.
