BGG World trades in China as Beijing Gingko Group Biotechnology Co., Ltd., founded in Beijing in 1995. It reports more than 500 employees worldwide and sells into three downstream sectors: food and beverage, consumer health, and beauty and personal care. Its Asia-Pacific sales arm is Shanghai Ruihai Gingko Biotechnology Co., Ltd., based at 2020 Zhongshan West Road in the Xuhui district of Shanghai.

Branded ingredients include AstaZine astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis, ApplePhenon apple polyphenol, ThinOgen fucoxanthin, FucoMax fucoidan, MyrtiPRO European bilberry extract, TheraPrimE tocotrienols, Magvia licorice extracts and a stevia line that includes Vitosa glucosyl steviol glycosides.

The company operates five plants in China, in Beijing, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Xinjiang and Jiangsu. Astaxanthin production is centred on a Haematococcus pluvialis industrialisation project at the Shilin agricultural park near Kunming in Yunnan, an investment reported at 160 million yuan, which the company says will take total astaxanthin capacity to 7,500 kilograms of pure compound a year. It is listed in the China Food Additives and Ingredients Association directory as a spring FIC exhibitor.
