Guangdong Audima Bio-Tech Co., Ltd. makes gelatin and collagen in an industrial park at Huazhou City, Guangdong province, postcode 525100. The business grew out of its founder's earlier work: he began manufacturing chitin, chitosan and glucosamine from shellfish by-products in the 1990s, then looked for a use for the tilapia skin and scale that Chinese processing plants were discarding.

At first the company only decalcified tilapia scale and sold it as raw material to a large Japanese gelatin producer. It then built its own fish gelatin plant at Huazhou, chosen as the largest tilapia farming city in China, completing construction in 2012, and added a fish collagen processing line three years later. The gelatin is sold under the Fisgel brand. The range has since widened to animal skin and bone gelatin and the matching collagen grades, drawing on local raw material supply. Total capacity now stands at 23,000 tonnes of gelatin and 2,500 tonnes of collagen.

Certification covers HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, Kosher and Halal, together with European Union approval. Products sell within China and are exported to Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the United States, South American countries, New Zealand and the European Union.
