Hainan Huayan Collagen Technology Co., Ltd.

Hainan Huayan Collagen Technology Co., Ltd. was established in July 2005, originally as Hainan Huayan Biotech Co., Ltd., and is based at Meifeng Road in the Mei'an science and technology new town of the Haikou national high-tech zone in Hainan. Registered capital is 22 million yuan and it is recognised as a national high-tech enterprise.

The company was the first in China to produce hydrolysed collagen peptide and the first to hold a production licence for fish collagen peptide. Its first dedicated fish collagen plant opened in July 2006 and the first exports under its own intellectual property went to Japan, the United States, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia in October 2007. It has since invested close to 100 million yuan in what it describes as the largest fish collagen peptide industrialisation base in Asia, with capacity above 4,000 tonnes, and has expanded from one production base to six.

Production uses low temperature enzymatic hydrolysis and low temperature concentration. Beyond fish collagen peptide the range includes bovine collagen peptide, oyster, sea cucumber, earthworm, walnut, soybean and pea peptides, marine fish oligopeptide, anserine and a set of fruit and vegetable powders. Products go into food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical use, and the company sells through domestic agents, brand owners needing formulation work and contract manufacturers buying raw material directly.

Its research centre and key laboratory occupy nearly 1,000 square metres, and it holds more than 40 patents and 20 registered corporate standards across ten product systems. Certifications include ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, SGS, HACCP, halal, MUI halal and FDA registration. Exports go to Europe, the Americas, Australia, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Southeast Asia.
