Hebei Zhongkai Food Industry Co., Ltd. was founded in 2001 and is located at Huangguan Road in the industrial zone of Xinzhaidian Town, Zhaoxian, Shijiazhuang, Hebei, near the Zhaozhou Bridge. The site covers more than 30 mu.

Its main products are caramel colour in liquid and solid form, acid hydrolysed vegetable protein seasoning liquid and powder, purpose-made high fructose corn syrup and soy sauce powder. Caramel colour is produced by the ammonium sulphite process, the ammonia process and the plain caustic process, giving yellow, red, brown and black tones for different food and beverage uses, and the company frames its role as reducing batch to batch colour variation caused by natural variation in raw materials and by processing and storage. It also sells flavours, fragrances and edible biological products and holds import and export rights.

Production was rebuilt over the company's first two decades, and the plant is now run to GMP standards with what the company describes as advanced domestic food additive lines and an in-house food additive engineering technology centre for product development. It offers customised aroma and taste profiles for individual customers.

Certification covers ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 22000 food safety management, together with halal certification. The company runs a 6S management system across its production areas.
