Henan Xinghan Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

Henan Xinghan Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was established in October 2015 as a subsidiary of Henan Provincial Installation Group Co., Ltd. It stands inside the national bio-based materials industrial park at Nanle County, Puyang, Henan, on the west side of the north section of Changyi Road. Registered capital is RMB 100 million and the site covers about 310,000 square metres.

Xinghan ferments crop straw and other agricultural feedstock into lactic acid, and also handles straw harvesting and storage. Two automated production lines give an annual capacity of 120,000 tonnes. Grades run from polymer grade and high purity lactic acid through heat resistant, refined, food and feed grades, and the salts include sodium lactate, calcium lactate, potassium lactate and lactic acid powder. End uses are food, pharmaceuticals, industry and polylactic acid for biodegradable plastics. Organic fertiliser, gypsum powder and gypsum products round out the list.

In 2017 the company was designated a Puyang municipal key laboratory for straw sugar production and fermentation technology, and in 2018 it was recognised as a biotechnology high-technology enterprise. It hosts a graduate innovation practice base for Zhengzhou University and runs its own technology research centre. In 2021 it committed RMB 2.5 billion to a project for 200,000 tonnes a year of high optical purity polymer grade L-lactic acid, intended to close the loop from raw material to finished polylactic acid product.
