Hunan Wuxing Biological Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2006 and works in the science and technology industrial park of the Shuangfeng County economic development zone in Hunan. Registered capital is RMB 20 million, total assets are RMB 80 million and the plant covers 23,000 square metres.

Three products account for the output: collagen peptide at 2,000 tonnes a year, chondroitin sulphate at 500 tonnes a year and dimethyl sulfone at 4,000 tonnes a year. The company spends four percent of main business revenue on research each year. Its processes have been appraised by the Hunan provincial science and technology authorities, whose panel judged the overall technology to be at the domestic leading level and the core technology at the international leading level.

The research and testing laboratory covers 356 square metres and holds more than 150 instruments, among them high performance liquid chromatographs, gas chromatographs, automatic titrators, ultraviolet spectrophotometers and polarimeters. The company has a research cooperation agreement with Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology, and in February 2017 set up an academician and expert workstation with the team of Yin Yulong of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, jointly with the CAS Institute of Subtropical Agriculture and the Hunan Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. It holds five granted invention patents with six more under substantive examination.

Wuxing holds drug and food production licences and has passed halal, ISO 22000 and NSF certification. It has its own import and export rights and exports about 80 percent of production to more than twenty countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, India and South Africa.
