Nanjing Letop Biotechnology Co., Ltd. develops and produces functional raw materials using microbial fermentation and enzyme catalysis. It sells more than twenty products across three groups: functional food ingredients such as low-molecular-weight chondroitin sulphate under the LetopCS brand, earthworm protein, GABA, cartilage extract, NMN and ergothioneine; medical aesthetic materials including sodium hyaluronate at various molecular weights, acetylated and cationic hyaluronate derivatives, PDRN, ectoine and recombinant type III humanised collagen; and pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.

Two production bases are being brought on stream. Letop-Lianyungang Chengong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is a 500 million yuan project on 53 mu, covering hormone raw materials and fermentation-derived materials with associated tablet, capsule and injection lines. Letop-Nanjing Mingyang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is a 250 million yuan project on 26,000 square metres, with five lines running from enzyme catalysis and purification through drying, blending and tableting, and a projected annual capacity of 10 tonnes of hyaluronic acid, 10 tonnes of chondroitin sulphate, 20 tonnes of GABA and 0.6 tonnes of APIs.

The quality system holds GMPC, EFfCI, ISO 22716, ISO 9001 and Halal certification. LetopCS has US GRAS status, and the company received the first drilonetin production licence issued in Jiangsu Province. It runs a postgraduate workstation with Nanjing Tech University and has appointed Academician Chen Jian as chief scientist.
