Salmon Milt
Salmon Milt is the soft roe (male gonadal tissue) of salmon, and as an ingredient it is the source material for DNA extracts and for the regenerative cosmetic actives based on polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRN).
The tissue is naturally rich in tightly packed protamine-bound DNA, which makes it the preferred industrial source for low-molecular-weight DNA fragments used in skincare and aesthetic formulations.
We source bulk Salmon Milt from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Jiangsu. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.
Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades
The trade covers several formats.
Crude salmon milt powder, freeze-dried from washed and minced tissue, carries defined DNA and protein contents for use in food and supplement applications in selected Asian markets.
Purified salmon DNA at 90 percent or higher purity takes the form of a long-chain sodium salt for cosmetic and topical use, where it functions as a hydrating and film-forming active.
The PDRN grade is a low-molecular-weight DNA fragment fraction, typically in the 50 to 1500 kDa range or smaller, prepared by controlled depolymerization. It is sold as the headline active for regenerative skincare serums, post-procedure masks, and ampoule products.
A purified protamine sulphate side-stream from the same raw material is sold as a separate ingredient for food preservation use.
Applications
- Regenerative skincare serums and ampoules positioned around PDRN
- Post-procedure aftercare masks and creams for aesthetic clinics
- Anti-aging eye creams and neck serums in premium positioning
- Microneedling and mesotherapy aftercare formulations
- Scalp care serums for thinning hair and post-procedure recovery
- Wound-care gels and dermal repair products
- Standalone salmon DNA hydration boosters and essences
- Food supplements in Asian markets positioned around skin and joint support
- Research reagents for molecular biology applications
- Aquaculture feed additives derived from the residual protein fraction

How We Help Source Salmon Milt
Direct Factory Sourcing
We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.
Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer
The manufacturer sends your Salmon Milt out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.
Free Samples and Lead Time
We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.
Combined Shipment
We can load Salmon Milt together with other ingredients such as Arachidonic Acid, Coenzyme Q10 and Chondroitin Sulphate Sodium into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.
Regulatory Status
Salmon DNA and PDRN are widely used as cosmetic ingredients under the Cosmetic Products Regulation in the European Union and under cosmetic frameworks in Korea, Japan, and other major markets.
In Korea, PDRN-based aesthetic injectables are regulated as medical devices or pharmaceuticals depending on the indication, with several products holding domestic approval. Topical cosmetic PDRN is regulated separately as a cosmetic ingredient.
In Italy and several other European markets, PDRN holds longstanding pharmaceutical registrations for specific tissue-repair indications under the brand name Placentex, with salmon milt as the source material.
In the United States, salmon DNA and PDRN-positioned products are sold as cosmetics under FDA cosmetic rules. Injectable use is not approved.
Halal and Kosher certifications exist for the cosmetic grades when the upstream supply chain qualifies.
Manufacturing Process
Production starts from fresh or frozen salmon milt collected as a byproduct of the food salmon industry, primarily from chum, pink, and Atlantic salmon harvests.
The tissue is washed, minced, and treated with a protease step to release DNA from its tight protamine packaging. The crude lysate is filtered and clarified.
DNA is then recovered by selective precipitation with ethanol or by chromatographic capture, depending on the target purity. The crude DNA is washed and redissolved in buffered water.
For the long-chain cosmetic grade, the purified DNA is sterile-filtered, lyophilized, and packed under inert atmosphere.
For the PDRN grade, the long-chain DNA is depolymerized to the target molecular weight window using a controlled ultrasonic or enzymatic step. The resulting fragments are fractionated by ultrafiltration to the target MW range, then sterile-filtered, lyophilized, and packed.
Each batch is checked for average molecular weight by HPLC-GPC or gel electrophoresis, for residual protein, and for endotoxin level appropriate to the intended use.
