Chondroitin Sulphate Oligosaccharide

Chondroitin Sulphate Oligosaccharide is a low-molecular-weight derivative of chondroitin sulphate, produced by controlled enzymatic depolymerization of the parent glycosaminoglycan into shorter sulfated saccharide chains.

The reduced chain length, typically below 10 kDa and often in the 2 to 5 kDa range, gives the material markedly higher solubility in water and substantially improved oral bioavailability compared with native chondroitin sulphate.

We source bulk Chondroitin Sulphate Oligosaccharide from top China manufacturers for our partners. The manufacturer is in Jiangsu. A smaller requirement can ship in a combined container with other ingredients.

Please send the grade you need, the volume and your destination port, and we will come back with a solution and a price.

Common Markets Grades

Material is graded by average molecular weight and by sulfation pattern.

The low-MW oligosaccharide grade sits between 2 and 5 kDa and is the format most often used in nutraceutical capsules and functional drinks. A mid-MW grade in the 5 to 10 kDa range is produced for tablet blends and joint-health gummies.

Purity is normally specified at 90 percent or 95 percent on a dry basis by CPC titration, with separate residual protein and chloride limits.

The sulfation ratio of C4S to C6S varies by source. Bovine and porcine starting material yields a roughly 2:1 C4S to C6S profile. Chicken sternum starts higher in C6S. Both profiles are sold to formulators with a preferred ratio.

Applications

  • Joint-health supplements in capsule, tablet, and sachet forms, often paired with glucosamine
  • Functional beverages and ready-to-drink shots aimed at mobility and recovery
  • Sports nutrition products for connective-tissue support around training loads
  • Bone-broth-style powders and collagen drink blends
  • Eye drops and ophthalmic lubricants, where short-chain chondroitin contributes viscosity and surface retention
  • Topical cosmetic serums focused on hydration and dermal matrix support
  • Wound-care gels and post-procedure aftercare products
  • Veterinary joint formulations for dogs, cats, and performance horses
  • Oral mouthwashes and lozenges for mucosal comfort
  • Senior nutrition products and meal replacements with mobility positioning

How We Help Source Chondroitin Sulphate Oligosaccharide

  • Direct Factory Sourcing

We run the whole process: selecting the manufacturer from the top Chinese food ingredient producers, negotiating the price, verifying quality, and coordinating the logistics. You deal with us instead of with several factories at once.

  • Original Packaging and Documents from the Manufacturer

The manufacturer sends your Chondroitin Sulphate Oligosaccharide out of its own factory in the original packing, through to your destination port. The COA, COO, MSDS, TDS and any certifications reach you from the manufacturer as well.

  • Free Samples and Lead Time

We send 100 to 500 g free for your own laboratory to test and you cover only the courier, usually within 2 to 3 working days. ETD is usually within 7 to 15 days once the order is confirmed, and we check that date against the factory's own manufacturing schedule before we give it to you.

  • Combined Shipment

We can load Chondroitin Sulphate Oligosaccharide together with other ingredients such as Arachidonic Acid, Coenzyme Q10 and Chondroitin Sulphate Sodium into one 20' FCL. If your quantity is small, we can also ship LCL.

Regulatory Status

Chondroitin sulphate itself is recognised as a dietary ingredient in the United States under DSHEA and is widely marketed in joint-health products.

In the European Union, chondroitin sulphate is authorised as an active substance in registered medicinal products in several member states and is also used in food supplements where national rules allow.

The low-MW oligosaccharide form is generally regulated as the same substance as the parent polymer but carries separate specifications reflecting its reduced chain length.

Pharmacopoeial monographs for chondroitin sulphate sodium appear in USP and Ph. Eur. and serve as reference for identity and purity. Halal and Kosher certifications exist for material from qualifying animal sources.

Manufacturing Process

Production starts from purified chondroitin sulphate sourced from bovine trachea, porcine nasal cartilage, chicken sternum, or fish cartilage. The polymer is dissolved in buffered water and brought to the optimum temperature and pH for the selected enzyme.

Chondroitinase ABC or hyaluronidase-type enzymes are then added to cleave the glycosaminoglycan backbone at controlled positions. Reaction time and enzyme load are adjusted to land on the target average molecular weight.

The reaction is quenched by heat inactivation. The hydrolysate is filtered to remove enzyme and insoluble residues, then ultrafiltered through staged membranes to fractionate the oligosaccharides into the desired MW window.

Decolorisation on activated carbon, ion exchange to control salt content, and a final spray-drying step yield a free-flowing off-white powder. Each batch is checked for average MW by HPLC-GPC and for sulphate content by ion chromatography.
