Ningxia Qiyuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was formed in January 2001 through the restructuring and merger of two former state-owned plants, the Ningxia Pharmaceutical Factory and the Ningxia Traditional Chinese Medicine Factory. It has grown into a large integrated biopharmaceutical producer based in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Production concentrates on antibiotic APIs, vitamin APIs and corn deep processing. The company is a major global producer of tetracycline and erythromycin API series, and its vitamin C range holds an established position in domestic and export markets. Erythromycin and tetracycline hydrochloride APIs carry US FDA, European COS and EU GMP approvals and have passed official quality audits in India, Japan and other countries; the vitamin C products hold Halal and Kosher certification. Products are sold across Europe, South America, Africa and Southeast Asia.

Qiyuan is recognised as a high-tech enterprise and operates an enterprise technology centre and a postdoctoral research workstation. Related companies in the group include Ningxia Qiyuan Guoyao, which makes tablets, granules, capsules, pills and suppositories along with health foods and herbal extracts, and Ningxia Yuyuan Biotechnology, founded in October 2014 on a 725 mu site as the region's sole producer of D-sorbitol. The group passed annual ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 audits and was cited by the Yinchuan industry bureau as an outstanding enterprise for social responsibility in 2022.
