Northwest Biological (Ningxia) Technology ferments microbial polysaccharide gums. It makes xanthan gum, gellan gum, curdlan gum, welan gum and sanzan gum, a set that covers most of the thickening, suspending and gelling jobs a drinks or sauce formulator faces. Its xanthan runs on maize starch and soy protein fermented with Xanthomonas, and it holds viscosity across a wide range of temperature, pH and salt concentration, which is why it turns up in beverages, dairy, meat, bakery and seasonings.

The company was set up in July 2023 with registered capital of 100 million yuan and manufactures in Ningxia. It belongs to Shandong Huachi Holding Group. Being a recent build, its plant is single-purpose fermentation rather than a converted line, and the gum range rather than a broader additive catalogue is the whole of its business.
