Sethness - Roquette Food Ingredients (Lianyungang) Co., Ltd.

Sethness Roquette Food Ingredients (Lianyungang) Co., Ltd. operates a caramel colour plant at 23 Zhenxing Road, Songtiao Industry Zone, Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province. The site was completed at the end of 2011 and commissioned in 2012.

The plant was built as a joint venture between Sethness Products Company of Chicago and Roquette Freres of Lestrem, France, to supply caramel colour to Asian markets. Roquette acquired Sethness outright in 2018, and the combined business now trades as Sethness Roquette. The Chinese subsidiary is therefore a wholly owned unit of the Roquette group.

Its products are caramel colour, caramelised sugar syrup and burnt sugar for beverages, sauces, bakery, confectionery, pet food and brewing. The main raw material is glucose syrup, piped directly from a Roquette starch processing plant adjacent to the site, which removes a bulk liquid transport step between the two operations.

Design capacity is 45,000 tonnes of caramel a year. The built facility includes a 1,150 square metre main production workshop, 920 square metres of storage, a 450 square metre administrative and workshop building, and a 440 square metre wastewater treatment plant with a 230 square metre emergency retention pool.
