Sichuan Newstar Konjac Co., Ltd.

The Newstar group makes hydrocolloids through two plants. Konjac is handled by Sichuan Newstar Chengming Biotechnology in the Sichuan Cuisine Industrial Park in Chengdu, which is designed for 8,000 tonnes a year of konjac flour, and carrageenan by Fangchenggang Jiekang Biotechnology in the Fangchenggang port industrial park in Guangxi, rated at 15,000 tonnes a year. The business covers konjac growing, R&D, processing and sales, and holds five national patents. The head office address is A-558, 1388 Middle Tianfu Avenue, in the Chengdu high-tech zone.

The Chengdu plant occupies just over 40 mu and was built to GMP standards, with a 900 square metre administration building, 8,000 square metres of workshops, a 1,500 square metre research building and a 1,500 square metre dormitory block. It runs an automated konjac flour line, with an on-site quality inspection and monitoring room and electronic monitoring inside the workshops. Production management follows ISO 9001 and HACCP.

Certification listed covers ISO 9000 and HACCP, BRC in the United States, Kosher, Halal through MUI, and US FDA registration. The company holds a Chengdu municipal designation as an agricultural industrialisation dragon-head enterprise and is listed for priority development as an export earner. Overseas sales began in 2007 and now reach more than 40 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia and Taiwan.
