Sungen Bioscience Co., Ltd. manufactures fermentation-derived ingredients at the Sungen Biotech Park in the Shantou Free Trade Zone, Guangdong Province. It is registered as a national high and new technology enterprise and holds 33 patents.

The company states that it was the first in China to produce nattokinase and natural vitamin K2 as MK-7 using Bacillus subtilis natto. Its branded materials include EsseZyme nattokinase and ESSEK2 all-trans MK-7, and it also makes gamma-polyglutamic acid. Its research covers peptide drugs alongside fermentation technology.

The park covers 68 acres and includes a 5,600 square metre biotechnology research institute, with a research and quality team of more than 80 staff. Fermentation runs on Korean-built equipment using non-GMO soybeans, purified water and natto strains under automated process control, within a three-tier quality management system.
