Gansu Fanzhi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was founded in 1995 and has spent close to 30 years on licorice products, covering research, production and sale of licorice and other plant extracts. It is based at the Chuangxin Building in the Lanzhou High-tech Development Zone, Gansu province, at B-1815, 18 Yannan Road.

The range centres on glycyrrhizin chemistry: dipotassium glycyrrhizinate, tripotassium glycyrrhizinate, ammonium glycyrrhizinate, monoammonium glycyrrhizinate S, glabridin at PT40 and PT90 grades, a water-soluble glabridin inclusion complex, and stearyl glycyrrhetinate. Buyers come from pharmaceuticals, food, household chemicals, cosmetics, veterinary medicine and feed. More than 60 percent of output is exported, mainly to the United States, Japan, South Korea, Italy, Spain, India and Russia.

The Lanzhou plant runs several modern lines built to pharmaceutical GMP, with production controlled under GMP and ISO quality management systems throughout. The company holds a drug manufacturing licence, a food production licence and an accreditation certificate as a foreign drug manufacturer from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and in December 2019 passed a GMP conformity inspection for monoammonium glycyrrhizinate S as an active ingredient. In 2018 it led the drafting of four group standards covering dipotassium glycyrrhizinate for cosmetics and for toothpaste, glycyrrhetinic acid for toothpaste, and stearyl glycyrrhetinate for cosmetics, all since published. Sales branches operate in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Lanzhou.
