Guangzhou Leader Bio-Technology Co., Ltd.

Guangzhou Leader Bio-Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in June 2001 and has its head office in the Guangzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, at the Innovation Building on Kexue Avenue in the Huangpu district. It develops, produces and sells feed additives and food additives, with carotenoid pigments as the core of the business.

The product system covers lutein from marigold, beta-carotene, paprika red, canthaxanthin and astaxanthin, supplied both as feed pigments under brand names such as Jinjuhuang and Yipinhong and as food-grade colours. The company also makes an encapsulated capsicum extract for animal feed, a high-zeaxanthin lutein grade produced by converting lutein to zeaxanthin, and an emulsified lutein form intended to improve absorption in poultry. Its food side supplies beta-carotene, lutein, natural astaxanthin, capsanthin and milk thistle extract.

To secure raw material the company established large marigold growing bases in Yunnan, Ningxia and Heilongjiang. Yunnan Leader was named a provincial agricultural industrialisation leading enterprise in 2015 and a high-tech enterprise in 2016. The group now has nineteen wholly owned subsidiaries, among them Foshan Leader, Yunnan Leader, Ningxia Leader and Leader Biotecnologia de Mexico S.A. de C.V.

Leader holds ten national invention patents and two utility model patents and has taken part in drafting eight national standards. It has run projects for the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology Spark Programme and the national 863 programme, and operates joint research centres with Nanjing Agricultural University and the National Feed Engineering Technology Research Center. Provincial and municipal engineering centres, a Guangzhou key laboratory and an academician workstation are based at the company. Products are sold across China and exported to more than eighty countries and regions.
