Qingdao Gather Great Ocean Algae Industry Group Co., Ltd. was founded in August 2000 and is based at 817 Shenghai Road, Huangdao District, Qingdao, Shandong Province. It works across the whole seaweed chain, from marine fishery and raw material bases at one end through comprehensive seaweed processing to animal and plant nutrition and health food at the other.

Comprehensive seaweed gum processing is the core business, covering sodium alginate, agar and carrageenan. Two products are treated as growth lines: seaweed polysaccharide empty capsules and alginate oligosaccharides. Four further sectors sit alongside them, in seaweed feed, seaweed fertiliser, seaweed food and marine fishery. The company states that its product grades now run from industrial through food grade to biomedical grade.

Facilities are organised as an industrial park and a science and technology park in China plus an overseas base in Australia, with national marine ranches supplying raw material upstream. The group is a National High-Tech Enterprise and holds eight national-level platforms, among them a state-recognised enterprise technology centre and the national R&D centre for seaweed industrial processing technology, together with provincial platforms including a Shandong academician workstation, a Shandong engineering research centre and a Shandong modern marine industry technology innovation centre. It has been named a Shandong gazelle enterprise and a specialised and innovative enterprise, and appears repeatedly in the Shandong and Qingdao top 100 private enterprise rankings.
