Hangzhou Starpro Starch makes modified starches for food use. The range covers acetylated starch, acetylated distarch adipate and acetylated distarch phosphate, distarch phosphate, hydroxypropyl starch and hydroxypropyl distarch phosphate, oxidised and oxidised hydroxypropyl starch, acid-treated thin boiling starch and pregelatinised grades. Native starches and premixed powder blends built on them round out the catalogue.

The company runs two plants, one in the Xiasha economic and technological development zone at Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and one in the Tianjin economic and technological development zone. It keeps its own development and application team for modified starch and works with customers on grade selection, which is the practical part of the business, since the same chemistry behaves differently in a sauce, a sausage and a fruit filling.
