Hebei Dongzhixing Bio-tech Ltd.

Hebei Dongzhixing Biotech Co., Ltd. was established in July 2005 and operates from Juhou Avenue in the Chengan Industrial Zone at Handan, Hebei. The site covers 66,000 square metres and annual production capacity is stated at 2,000 tonnes.

Its main products are paprika oleoresin and capsicum red powder, capsaicin oleoresin and marigold oleoresin for lutein, and it also handles curcumin, wheat germ oil and rose oleoresin. Extraction uses a supercritical line alongside solvent extraction, and the company says it was the first to use hexane grade No. 4 solvent to extract natural pigments from plants.

Raw material supply is integrated. In 2010 it set up chilli and marigold growing and primary processing bases in Xinjiang covering more than 20,000 mu, and it has since established further planting bases in Gansu, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. The company states that owning the growing base shortens transport, lowers processing cost and stabilises quality.

Quality control is run in house, with HPLC, GC and UV instruments and research cooperation with universities. Certifications held are ISO 22000 with HACCP, FAMI-QS for feed materials in the European Union, halal and kosher. It has been named a provincial and municipal agricultural industrialisation leading enterprise, a Hebei high-tech enterprise, an AAA credit rated enterprise and a Hebei famous agricultural product producer. Exports go to Europe, the Americas, Southeast Asia, South Korea and Japan.
