Musashino Chemical (China) makes L-lactic acid and its derivatives. The range covers lactic acid itself, lactate salts including calcium, sodium, magnesium, zinc and ferrous lactate, lactate esters down to electronic grade ethyl lactate, and blended preservative systems, with agar and amino acids beside them. The products go into food, healthcare, household chemicals, industry, agriculture and water treatment.

The plant sits in the national economic and technological development zone at Yichun in Jiangxi and is wholly owned by Musashino Chemical Laboratory of Japan, which set it up in 2000 and has made lactic acid since 1949. It ferments starch and glucose rather than working from a petrochemical feedstock, then refines the acid, and controls the process to the ISO quality system.
